Upload materials to Schoology (e.g. Files and Links)

This article references the Secondary Schoology Guidelines.  This video has been provided as an overview of all aspects of materials management in Schoology.

Course Requirements

All courses must have the course overview available at the top of the materials list. Teachers are encouraged to organize consistently with their teaching team so that students and parents have only one organizational system to navigate.

Folders should be organized by unit and within each unit-folder you may elect to include subfolders. Color coding is optional.

Step-by-Step Guides

Adding Files

To begin, we will cover how to upload materials to Schoology. Schoology allows you to upload a variety of file types, including documents, images, and videos. You can find detailed instructions on how to upload materials in the Materials Management / Organisation section of the Schoology Teacher User Guide.

1. Click "Add Materials" at the top of the Course page

2. Select "Add Files/Links/External tools"

3. Choose Add Files

4. Select the File from your Laptop local storage

Adding Links

1. Click "Add Materials" at the top of the Course page

3. Enter the Link Title and the Link/URL

4. Press "Add"

Adding External Tools

1. Click "Add Materials" at the top of the Course page

3. Select the External Tool you wish to use.  The majority of the other technical data will be filled in for you so you can just press "Submit"

Adding Folders

Next, we will discuss how to organize your materials using folders. Folders can be used to create a hierarchy of content within your course. You can find detailed instructions on how to create folders in the Materials Management / Organisation section of the Schoology Teacher User Guide.

1. Click "Add Materials" at the top of the Course page

2. Select "Add Folder"

3. Fill in the details of the pop-up screen.  You can choose colours, description, data you want the folder to appear and even an end date for it to hide from students.
